TP-Link Deco XE75

Best Mesh WiFi System

4.6/5
$234.99 (2-pack)

Best for: Large homes that need seamless whole-home WiFi coverage with the latest WiFi 6E technology

Our Verdict

The TP-Link Deco XE75 is the best mesh WiFi system for most homes. The WiFi 6E tri-band design uses the 6 GHz band as a dedicated backhaul, which means your 5 GHz band is fully available for your devices — a significant advantage over dual-band mesh systems. At $235 for a 2-pack covering 5,500 sq. ft., the value is exceptional. If you have a large home with WiFi dead zones, this is the solution.

Pros

  • WiFi 6E with dedicated 6 GHz backhaul for fast inter-node communication
  • Covers up to 5,500 sq. ft. with just 2 units — expandable with more
  • Seamless roaming — devices switch between nodes without dropping
  • Clean, minimalist design that blends into any home decor
  • HomeCare security included free (no subscription)
  • AI-Driven Mesh optimizes network paths automatically
  • Easy setup via Deco app in under 10 minutes

Cons

  • Individual unit speeds lower than dedicated routers
  • Only 3 Gigabit LAN ports per unit (no 2.5G port)
  • Limited advanced settings compared to standalone routers
  • 6 GHz client device support still limited in 2026

Full Review

Mesh WiFi systems have revolutionized home networking, and the TP-Link Deco XE75 represents the sweet spot of performance, coverage, and value in the WiFi 6E era.

Design and Build

The Deco XE75 units are cylindrical towers standing about 6.7 inches tall with a clean white finish. They're among the most attractive mesh units available — designed to sit on a shelf or table without looking like networking equipment. Each unit has internal antennas, so there are no protruding elements.

The minimalist design extends to the ports: each unit has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back and a power connector. No USB ports, which is a trade-off for the compact design.

WiFi Performance

The tri-band WiFi 6E design is the Deco XE75's killer feature:

**5 GHz Band:** With the 6 GHz band handling backhaul duties, the full 5 GHz bandwidth is available for your devices. We measured 500-550 Mbps at the router unit and 400-450 Mbps at the satellite unit — excellent for a mesh system.

**2.4 GHz Band:** Consistent 80-100 Mbps throughout the coverage area, perfect for IoT devices.

**6 GHz Band:** When connected directly to a 6E-capable device, speeds reached 600+ Mbps. However, the primary value of the 6 GHz band is as dedicated backhaul between mesh nodes.

**Roaming:** This is where mesh systems shine. Moving from one end of the house to the other, our devices seamlessly transitioned between nodes with no perceptible interruption. Video calls, gaming sessions, and streaming continued without a hitch.

**Coverage:** The 2-pack comfortably covered our 4,000 sq. ft. test home with strong signal in every room, including the garage and backyard patio. The 5,500 sq. ft. claim is achievable in open floor plans.

Features and Software

The Deco app is one of the best mesh management interfaces available:

  • **AI-Driven Mesh:** The system automatically optimizes routing paths based on network conditions. If one path becomes congested, traffic is rerouted through a better path.
  • **HomeCare:** Free security suite with antivirus, parental controls, and QoS — same as standalone TP-Link routers.
  • **Parental Controls:** Per-device profiles with content filtering, time limits, and bedtime schedules. Very family-friendly.
  • **Guest Network:** Separate guest network with bandwidth limits and device isolation.
  • **Ethernet Backhaul:** If you have Ethernet wiring between floors, you can use wired backhaul for even better performance.
  • Who Should Buy This

The Deco XE75 is ideal for:

  • Large homes (2,000-5,500 sq. ft.) with WiFi dead zones
  • Families who want simple, reliable whole-home coverage
  • Users upgrading from WiFi extenders or powerline adapters
  • Anyone who values aesthetics — these look great in any room
  • Smart home enthusiasts with many IoT devices spread throughout the house
  • Who Should Look Elsewhere

    Consider alternatives if:

  • You have a small apartment — a single router like the Archer AX73 is more cost-effective
  • You need maximum single-device speed — a dedicated router like the RT-AX86U Pro is faster
  • You need many Ethernet ports — each unit only has 3
  • You want advanced networking features (VPN server, detailed traffic analysis)
